For complacent Christians

A letter from an atheist

You are really convinced that you've got all the answers. You've tricked yourself into believing that you're 100% right. Well let me tell you just one thing. Do you consider yourself to be compassionate of other human beings? If you're right about GOD, as you say you are, and you believe that, then how can you sleep at night? When you speak with me, you are speaking with someone who you believe is walking directly into eternal damnation, into an endless onslaught of horrendous pain which your ‘loving’ GOD created, yet you stand by and do nothing.

If you believed one bit that thousands every day were falling into an eternal and unchangeable fate, you should be running the streets mad with rage at their blindness. That’s equivalent to standing on a street corner and watching every person that passes by you walk blindly into the path of a bus and die, yet you stand idly by and do nothing. You're just twiddling your thumbs, happy with the knowledge that one day that “Walk” signal will shine your way across the road.

Think about it. Imagine the horrors hell must have in store if the Bible is true. You're just going to allow that to happen and not care about saving anyone but yourself? If you're right, then you're an uncaring, unemotional, and purely selfish (expletive deleted) that has no right to talk about subjects as love and caring.

A word to those who have “so great salvation” at so great an expense, by "the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ" (Heb. 2:3; Titus 2:13).

For complacent Christians
“Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy” (Ps.107:2). “I believed, therefore I spoke” (2Cor. 4:13). “For we cannot but speak the things which we have both seen and heard” (Acts 4:20).

Does it mean nothing to you, O Christian, who professes to know and love God, that souls on earth daily live in rebellion to God, in grievous and destructive idolatry, refusing to repent and give God glory (Rv. 16:9)? Why do you not hate sin and love righteousness as thy Savior did (Heb. 1:9), and so seek to "turn many to righteousness" (Dan. 12:3) as He did and taught His disciples to do? "And they went out, and preached that men should repent" (Mk. 6:12).

And if you do claim to love God, will you not love them for whom Christ died, and consider what the end shall be “of them that  obey not the gospel" (2Ths. 1:8; 1Pt. 4:17)?

The rich man in Hell of whom CHRIST spoke (Lk.16:19-31) still yearns for a drop of water to cool his tongue. Souls in Hell would cry for a Lazarus to testify to their brethren "lest they also come into this place of torment” (v.28) if they had hope he could.  If you are indeed saved, having been drawn out of that “horrible pit” by the nail-pierced hands of your crucified and risen Lord and Saviour, JESUS CHRIST, than you are that “Lazarus!

In the light of “so great salvation” wrought by “our great GOD and Saviour,” to meet so great a need at so great a cost, should not our response be great in prayer and the word? The apostles declared; “we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” The church prayed mightily for boldness, received such, and “went everywhere preaching the Word” (Acts 4:20, 29-31; 8:4).

We in the church today are mostly too worldly, weak and   fearful of suffering persecution to bring complacent souls to understand their urgent need for salvation, of their being eternally rejected by Christ. Yet has not the LORD warned us “whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it” (Mk. 8:35). Has He not commanded us not to hide our light under a basket, but “to preach the Gospel to every creature?” God warned Ezekiel aforetime “if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked of his way, that wicked shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at thine hand” (Ezk.33:8). Should we not therefore obey God, or should we be ashamed of Christ and His doctrine and make Him ashamed of us at His coming? (cf. Mk. 8:38). Shall we not rather remember the pit from whence we were dug, and the great grace given us, and present our bodies to God as living sacrifices (Rm. 12:1), and be used of God to covert the lost?

With a renewed mind, may we see souls in the light of  eternity, and the absolute holiness and justice of  Almighty God, whom they dishonor, revealing their desperate need for salvation and utter inability to gain it apart from repentant faith in Christ!

The love of God who wrought  “so great salvation” constrains us to live holy and selflessly(2Cor. 5:14). And to do as He did, to seek and to save that which is lost, through "repentance [directly] toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ (2Cor. 5:19; Lk. 19:10; Acts 20:21 26:20). When souls repent, they glorify God (Rv. 16:9). May we therefore, seek to glorify our Lord and  God in prayer, purity and passion. And reach the lost -  while such great grace are we now have is given us do so!

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:  The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:1-3).

You must be saved, and know that God is with you.

"Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His" (Romans 8:9).

All have sinned” - including you. We have all broken many of the good laws and misused good things God gave us for our own good, thereby hurting ourselves and others. Sin has separated you from God, resulting in spiritual death - the emptiness of which man tries to fill by yielding to various lusts, resulting in more sin and evil.

If you die in your sins you can not be allowed into Heaven, but will go to a place just the opposite of Heaven, a place called the Lake of Fire (Rev. 20:27) and will realize everlasting torment instead of everlasting life, peace and joy, which can only be had through Jesus Christ!

If you are honest with yourself you will admit you have sinned, but you must also realize that you cannot save yourself on any merit of your own. You have no goodness that will save you, neither does any church, organization or "deity",  have any merit or power to save you from Hell nor gain Heaven (no matter what they say). God expressly declares all men sinners, unable to save themselves, and thus it is "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" (Titus 3:5).

That mercy is Jesus Christ, and Him crucifed and risen again: “Neither is there salvation in any other.” Only “God manifest in the flesh” (1Tim. 3:16) can save you. It is true repentant faith in Him that brings you forgiveness of sins  and His life-giving Holy Spirit.

It is only Christ who was sent from the Father to be your Savior and mine, and who paid for your sins with own His sinless, precious blood on the cross of His death. It is He who rose in victory over death, and now reigns in Heaven, at the Father's right hand, as present Savior and future Judge. It is the Lord Jesus Christ whom you will face in judgment. What you do with Him now reveals what you truly love and determines where you will spend eternity.

Your response - if you would be saved - must be to decide you want to turn to God from sin and receive the Lord Jesus Christ. Humble yourself as a sinner and pray to Jesus to save you. Tell Him the truth, that you are a sinner, and that you want to be forgiven, saved, and live for Him. Give Him your sins and your life.

Yor show this decision and faith by being baptized under water in identification with your Lord, and and following Him with a Bible - believing church. Real faith in the Lord Jesus will result in a changed heart and life, rejoicing in Jesus, despite persecutions!

Decide today for Christ - while the grace may be given you to do so!

"And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world" (1John 4:14).

If God, "spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all," "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?" (Romans 8:32; Hebrews 2:3).

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Romans 10:9).

May you know “the grace of God in truth” (Col. 1:6).

Praise the Lord
